Our Credentials

QMed has received National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) patient and practitioner oriented full, 3 year accreditation for cardiovascular disease, heart failure and diabetes valid through June 10, 2008.

QMed, Inc. is one of the first companies in the Nation to successfully complete the Sarbanes-Oxley audit. The successful completion demonstrates to the investment community, as well as to our customers, that our controls are superior and that both investors and customers can have full confidence in our reporting. Being the first Disease Management firm to successfully complete this audit sets a new standard for DM firms.

Early on, QMed adopted an active mindset to assure that our company was in step with the release of rules proposed by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Administrative Simplification process. Working with our health plan partners, we have developed and executed a plan to assure that we make patient confidentiality our first priority. This confidentiality is assured through our compliance with the HIPAA security standards effective April 20, 2005. To achieve this commitment, we have done the following:
  • Appointed a HIPAA Compliance Officer responsible for the compliance of the HIPAA Privacy and Security standards.
  • Implemented internal policies and procedures for appropriate handling and protecting Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Required all employees to attend training on the HIPAA regulations and our internal policies and procedures.
  • Implemented safeguards to ensure protection of electronic personal health information; these safeguards include firewalls, encryption software, screen savers and password protection.
  • Evaluated Threats and Safeguards during an annual risk assessment.
  • Developed a policy that allows both members and providers to submit a grievance and to exercise their rights as members and providers respectively.
  • Finalized Business Associate agreements with health plan partners where necessary.
  • Continue to monitor the flow of PHI at every level of the organization to assure patient privacy and security of ePHI but yet allow for the appropriate exchange of information in order to operate the QMed programs.

QMed recognized as best disease management company for Medicare.
